Abandoned Farm Road Hike

Exploring past the last village I discovered a narrow dirt road where a barrier had been placed to prohibit vehicle traffic. The track left the main road to disappear into a bamboo grove and a steep canyon where farmers had once maintained tea farms, orchards and wasabi terraces. Skirting the barrier I set off to explore a neglected agricultural landscape rapidly being swallowed by the living forest.
